My Role in EmPow

What did I do?

During the development of EmPow, my group members and I played big roles in development. During brainstorming we had many ideas but I came up with combining both an app where you can find jobs or work and learning about financial literacy. From personal experience and stories from friends, I know that these are issues that will impact our generation and future ones.

In the development of Empow, I did a number of things, some of these things are:

• Worked with team to start and finished up our slideshow
• Designed the financial literacy part of the application, including a section where you can play games to gamify these lessons
• Communicated with our mentors, expressed ideas that we had and wanted to complete along with assisting in the emails written to InfyApp

Past Experience

G4C & EMOTICON

Last year in school we participated in Games 4 Change and Emoticon to create games using code.org and figma for design. Our goal was to make a game to expose a certain social issue to light. The one that we chose was a to create a cleaner ocean for future generations.

SYEP Internship (Summer 2024)

During the summer, I did an 50 hour internship with SYEP so I can gain skills on building resumes, learning how to manage finances as a teen and working with my teams to create a plan using a slideshow to help integrate a system into institutions such as school or other companies. For my group it was using ChatGPT positively and to not fear using AI. Our slideshow was nominated at the end of the program in their farewell zoom call.

ISP Fall Internship (Fall 2024)

During the start of Junior year, I signed up for a 60 hour internship with ISP to be able to be an intern at a company. I was able to work for a company called WorkForce1. Here I was assigned to a manager to work for and help them with their tasks. Here I was able to learn how to work with others whether it is co workers or customers who needed assistance.
